Luke Wilkins team leader of the Alaskan Environmental Research team is on his way to the Canadian territory of Nunavut when a winter storm causes his plane to crash. The crew, which include his best friends and Nicole, the woman he secretly admires, barely escape with their lives. Luke isn’t so lucky. He is captured by his nemesis, Chin Si Lee and taken to Darwin’s Tomb, a Viking castle hidden in the mountains. Lee, a competing Environmental Scientist, doesn’t want to steal research like he’s done before. Lee wants the Ring. An ancient Viking ring said to hold great power and Lee is willing to do whatever it takes to get it. Luke worries after his son, Adam, who is also a prisoner, his crew and the woman he loves. After a few close calls and a quick escape, they make it back home, but the danger is far from over.

Luke trying to forget about the past, but discovers that someone is watching him. He suspects that Lee has returned and will stop at nothing to get the ring from him. Luke is still unsure why the ring is so valuable. He decides to take a trip to Norway to see if he can learn more. The adventure continues as Luke Wilkins fights to unravel the mysteries of the Viking ring while trying to escape a deadly assassin.

Luke stays with his sister for a few days to investigate the strange events that have happened since he was away. That's where he comes face to face with Brady, a man that has all the answers to the many questions Luke has had about his own past.

When his travels take him to the icy shores of Greenland, Brady follows him there and Luke must figure out which side Brady is really on.
